Lindos
Lindos befindet sich auf der östlichen Seite der Insel, 55 km südlich der Stadt Rhodos. Es ist eine Ansiedlung die unverändert erhalten wird, von der Epoche der reichen Lindien, Schiffsherren des 15. Jh. Die weißen Häuschen mit flachen Zimmern haben immer noch die Basreliefen die die Fenster umarmen, Boden aus vielen kleinen Steinen, Sofraden und Wänden coller Teller. Die byzantische Kirche der Panagia der Lindos, mit den ritterlichen Wappen, spielt die mittelalterliche Geschichte der Insel an.
Lindos hat eine Geschichte von Jahrtausenden. Sie war schon von den archaischen Jahren bekannt als eine der drei Staaten der Doriieten, die einzige die sich weiterentwickelt hat, auch als der neue Stadtteil Rhodos gegründet wurde, rund 408 v.Ch. Sehr bekannt in jeder alten Gesellschaft war der heilige Ort der Landias Athinas, wessen Trümmer bis heute erhalten werden in der alten Akropolis, Spitze eines Steilen Felsen, der gleich vom Meer anfängt, mit einer Höhe von 116 Meter.
