SALAMINA
Salamina, the island of the famous sea fight between the Persians and the Greeks in 480 BC, is the closest island to Athens, seen it is only a few hundreds of meters away and is connected by ferry.
It is an island with rich vegetation and gorgeous little ports. The southern district of the island has the best beaches on the island such as Kanakia, Peristeria, Giala and Satirli. In the surrounding villages you will still find the traditional old houses whereas the main town is very recent and modern, that has still kept it old-day charm.
Place to visit are the Acropolis of Ancient Salamina and the cave of Evripidi.
