Another beautiful island in the Cyclades is Paros. It is found in the center of the Cyclades Complex and has a population of about 9,000 residents. It is the perfect place for relaxation and peacefulness, but also for great nightlife since stores and entertainment venues literally cover the island. The snow-white houses, the little churches and the paved laneways will amaze you. It is worth paying a visit to Parikia, the capital and port of the island, to get a taste of the island's delicacies as well the hospitality of the locals. There you will also find the world known Byzantine monument of Greece, Panagia tin Ekatontapiliani, where in the yard of the church there are many sculptures and the grave of the heroine Manto Mavrogenous. Also you can visit the Castle that was built by the Duke of Naxos, Marko Sanoudo, in the 13th century. However, if you ever find yourself in Paros, it is an absolute must to visit the Valley of the Butterflies, that is found just 6km south of Parikia. There you will find a real paradise, the green valley with its running waters, that is full of one specific species of butterfly that decorate with their colors the flowers and tree trunks. On the other side of the island you will find Naousa, the second largest village in Paro and the most popular. It is the most cosmopolitan area in Paro, full of boutiques and trendy bars. Upon entering the scenic port of the village you will see the ruins of a 15th Century Venetian fortress. Also very beautiful are the churches of Aghiou Ioannu and Kimisi tis Theotokou. The island will remain unforgettable to you because of its golden beaches as well. It offers quiet beaches for those that seek total relaxation as well as beaches where the fun starts with the first swim of the day. The best beaches of the island would have to be the following, Aghia Irene, Kaminia, Pounta, Krio, Kolibithres, Monastiri, Parasporo etc. However for those that really want to get away from the business of Paro and want to spend their holidays in peace and quiet, then Antiparos is a great solution for you. It is about half a mile from the shores Paro. The only village in Antiparo houses about 850 residents, many taverns, ouzeri and bars. The village is built around the 15th century Venetian castle. Of course will you are there you have to visit the cave of the island, with a depth of 70m. You can also take dip in the beaches of Antiparo, such as Psaralikes, Panagia, Soro and Aghios Giorgis. To get to Antiparo from Paro you can take the ferryboat from the village Pounta, which takes about 10mins, or from Parikia that takes about 30 minutes. Nevertheless, wherever you choose to go it is sure that you will be impresses and that you will want to visit again this unforgettable islands. Paros is always waiting with open arms to welcome you back to its natural beauty.
